Who said March was boring? It’s the beginning of spring, the return of the sun, warmer days and maple syrup season, so we take advantage of it and participate in all the activities downtown. Whether you are a fan of urban sports, exhibitions or sugar: the choice is wide and suitable for all ages!
The Jeux Urbains Festival – Centre Eaton
Are you a fan of sports, thrills and unusual activities? Don’t miss this free event this month! From March 23 to 25, 2023, the second edition of the Jeux Urbains will take place, presented by XP_MTL. It is inside the Centre Eaton that you can watch friendly competitions between high-level athletes from all over the world. They will demonstrate their discipline and you can even meet them in the interactive zone to get an autograph.
On the menu: BMX flatland, freestyle soccer, tricking, dancing (break dancing, hip-hop, popping, waacking), Olympic wrestling, boxing, judo, karate, taekwondo, fencing, tumbling and pommel horse. The public will also be invited to take part in a dozen activities, such as bouldering lessons given by Decathlon.
But that’s not all ! In addition to living an extraordinary sporting experience, the event will be hosted in the most festive vibe of the month. While DJs and animators will set the crowd on fire, visitors will also be able to enjoy a photobooth area and several games and attractions. This year, we are fortunate to welcome renowned collaborators such as comedian Kevin Raphaël, who will be the host of the Jeux Urbains, one of the greatest fighters in MMA, Georges Saint -Pierre, BMX world champion, Jean William Prévost and freestyle soccer world champions, Laura Biondo and Mélody Donchet.

Disco Fever – Esplanade Tranquille Ice Rink
Every Saturday evening, until March 25, 2023, the Esplanade Tranquille ice rink turns into a 70s dance floor (be careful, it’s slippery)! Whether you’re on a date, with family, friends or solo: you can’t refuse a free dance party. So put on your ice skates and join us on the ice to dance and sing the greatest disco hits such as Get Down On It, Stayin Alive or Rasputin.
Sugar Shack Brunch – Marché Artisans
It’s finally the moment of the year we’ve all been waiting for: sugar season ! But this time, no need to drive for hours, a modern sugar shack is located directly in downtown. Located in the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth hotel in Montreal, the Marché Artisans is back with its incredible Sugar Shack Brunch menu. Revisited in a gastronomic way, this classic Quebec brunch also offers a vegetarian menu and another lighter one for children. A comforting activity for the whole family!

St. Patrick’s Day Parade – St.-Catherine Street
Another highly anticipated moment in March (and yet another excuse to party)…St. Patrick’s Day! Originally, St. Patrick’s Day was a Christian holiday that celebrated St. Patrick on March 17, but it’s a date that has also become a good time to gather and celebrate Irish traditions. Organized for the 198th year (yes), the Montreal parade is the most important after the New York one. Hundreds of floats, musicians and marching bands will parade on March 19, 2023 on St.-Catherine Street, from Fort street to Metcalfe street , starting at noon. So put on your green clothes and accessories, it’s a date!
Exposition Parall(elles): A History Of Women In Design – MMFA
Recently opened, the Parall(elles) exhibition, available at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, highlights the importance and complexity of design works by Canadian and American female artists. The exhibition brings together nearly 250 works and objects from the past 150 years and redefines the traditional term « design » in the broader sense to explore different disciplines, such as craftsmanship, industrial design, ceramics, glass, goldsmithing , jewelry, textiles, furniture, consumer products, graphics, fashion and interior design. Until May 28, 2023, dive into the world of these talented women, long underrepresented in history, but who today finally have the recognition they deserve!
